Koonwarra Store Outside Dining – Bit Chilly with Dogs

The Bayside Lady for Coffee

We always like to take the dogs for a walk before getting into the car ( so they settle down a bit) so we strolled to the nearby shops. We stopped and bought takeaway coffee from the bayside lady and carryied the 2 large lates home to drink as it was  too cold and windy to sit outside. Bonus tiny shortbread included on top was a nice touch. Great coffee

Lunch time at Koonwarra Store for a chilly outside experience

We sat outside the Koonwarra store for lunch. Perhaps not a great idea but we didn’t really have a choice with our dogs travelling with us.  The wind was icy cold however we were both rugged up and we were hoping for quick service. The dogs were tied up to the base of the  table were surprisingly well behaved. We were promptly looked after ( i think they felt sorry for us sitting outside in the cold while they were in the cosy restaurant.)

David had flathead tails and chips – delicious with a really nice light batter. I had a home made egg and bacon pie. All very nice. I went in to pay the bill and wanted to look at the produce they had on offer but unfortunately other patrons were up too close to the product on the shelves which made it impossible for me to have a look.

It was great food and service at the Koonwarra Store.

The Icy Winds of Venus Bay

We drove to Venus bay and found one of the turnoff with beach access. Got the dogs out and went for a brief walk. There was no one in sight. I am sure this would be a fantastic place in Summer! The icy wind was going straight through us!

The strong icy wind was going straight through us!

Dinner Fail – My Worst Soup ever!

I like to think I am a good cook and I was inspired to make an asian soup for dinner after seeing a recipe in the Coles magazine. I had my list and walked a short walk to the only supermarket in Inverloch to gather all the ingredients. I got them all and headed back looking forward to making a delicious soup.

While the end product looked like the picture it tasted terrible. Broth was very bland and  just not nice. David agreed. (We choose not to talk about the soup that I created in Inverloch – never to be repeated – ever)
