Port Douglas – Where the Reef meets the Tropical Rain Forest

Daintree National park

The Daintree National Park is home to the oldest living rain forest in the world which is 140 million years old. This unique park is divided into three areas which include Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge and Daintree. Daintree National Park is located between Mossman Gorge and Daintree River which is known for its long stretch of pristine rain forest and is also home to crocodiles and unique bird life.

The tropical rain forest and coral reef meet in Cape Tribulation, north of the Daintree River.  This area is home to magnificent sandy beaches and mangrove environments perfect for wildlife viewing.

Mossman Gorge is another great place to visit and is a steep valley on Mossman River which contains crystal clear creeks and lush tropical rain forest making it an excellent location for bird watching and viewing other wildlife.
