Jayco Jpod Extra Things for Comfort

While we have been tent camping in the past and have lots of camping things, getting the Jpod allows us to store more. So we bought more things to make our life more pleasant while camping! Most were bought from recommendations in online forums, camping facebook pages and looking at reviews.

Mozzie Protection

To open up the back and avoid being eaten alive by Mozzies we ordered bugmesh custom made to fit the jpod. It has magnetic clips the allow you to go in and out and shut after you. Bought it online and installed it myself. Comes with velcro strips that you attach to the inside of the jpod so the bug mesh can stick.

Thermacell Mosquito Repellent – Just in case

Just in case mozzies are bad when we are sitting outside I bought a Thermacell Mosquito Repellent device. It is heat activated mat releases repellent into the air creating a 21m2 Mosquito No-Go Zone. Also has a light.

Wanderer SUV Dome Shade for back of Jpod

To allow a bit of privacy and shelter for our dogs when the door of the Jpod is up we found  the Wanderer SUV Dome Shade ( that can fit perfectly onto the back of the Jpod). With a couple of cable ties the tent is attached to the J-pod roof rack.

Have also added snaps to the sides of the tent so it can be attached to the existing snaps on the sides of the Jpod. ( they are there for the tent that comes with the J-pod which we found to be too big and bulky for our needs)

Soft Crate for the Dogs

We bought a soft dog crate online (You & Me Dog Soft Crate from Petbarn ) for our dogs. They happily go in there to sleep at night while we are camping. We set it up under the “Wanderer SUV Dome Shade” which provides a bit of extra protection.

Dog Cooling Mat

Requires no water or refrigeration, body-heat activated Cooling mechanism. The dog cooling mat contains a gel coolant that is activated by your dogs own body weight and temperature. When your dog lays on the mat, it absorbs the body heat and in turn cools them down. The mat will cool your dog for up to 4 hours.

Cable to tie dogs up to from Kmart

After searching for ideas on what to do with dogs when you go camping we decided to try the cable method. ( you can set up portable stackable fences but we think our dogs would knock them over, and they would be much heavier and more difficult to set up).

Taffee and Fudge are tied up to a nearby tree allowing us to pack up without them getting in the way.

I bought a couple of the cables with stakes from Kmart ( You can also buy a variety of dog cable tie outs online) with the intention of not using the stake part. We tie it to the caravan stabilisers or nearby trees depending on the site.

Aldi Coffee Pod Machine

When we went camping we didn’t have much space so if we made coffee it would be water boiled in the kettle on the Coleman Hyperflame cooktop – with instant coffee. Now we have space we figure we can take the Aldi Coffee Machine and have a pod coffee instead.

Kmart Electric Kettle and Toaster

Kmart has $7.50 Toasters and while we have got the wire toaster to use on the Gas Cooktop it produces quick and nicer toast. As for the kettle this is so we can easily boil up some water for doing dishes.

Weber® Baby Q™ (Q1000AU) and Small Fry Pan

After reading lots of great reviews on small bbq’s for camping, we went for the Weber® Baby Q™. Got for a great price on sale along with the small weber frypan and trivet. (There is the next model up that has a thermometer and the lid is higher however this does not fit in the storage cavity in the Jpod.) This fits in the Jpod cavity along with our Coleman gas hyperflame cooktop, and a large frypan.

Aldi (Coleman) Fan

Lucky to get this fan from Aldi at a reduced price. To move the air on hot days on our Summer holidays. Just fits on the little shelf inside the JPod.  It is light and easy to pick up and move around. The dogs love it too!

Oztrail Jumbo Sun Lounge Chairs

We had come across these comfy lounges on a previous holiday and loved them. They are so comfortable! We had to buy them online. Only problem was where to put them because they are quite bulky. David manages to stack them in the  back of the Jpod next to the fridge.

Kings Awning Side Walls

Attach side walls to the side of the pullout awing or to your 4WD to provide protection from the sun or to add privacy when needed.

UGREEN Tablet Mount Lazy Holder Adjustable Long Arm Clamp

With a lot of research was looking for something to hold our ipad pro 12.9 inch up so we can watch it in bed. There are a lot of devices out there and they generally great for smaller ipads and phones – not the 12.9 inch screen. I found the UGREEN Tablet Mount Lazy Holder Adjustable Long Arm Clamp and bought it to clip on the side of the shelf in the caravan.
