That’s me! I love chocolate…
Chocolate had always been my favorite food group! Chocolate, chocolate cake, chocolate milkshakes, chocolate Tim Tams, ice-cream and anything covered in chocolate.
We were so excited to hear about a new chocolate shop opening up in the Yarra Valley – we actually went to the opening of Yarra Valley Chocolaterie on our daughters birthday. It was the 15th December about 4 years ago. (2012)
Since discovering Yarra Valley Chocolaterie it has become a regular happy place to go for a drive on the weekend. We live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia and the Yarra Valley is a short drive away.
Not just chocolate’s
We have had breakfast, lunch, ice creams and hot chocolates there on many occasion. We have bought Easter eggs, Christmas hampers and chocolate treats for gifts for special people and of course ourselves. They make special offerings at Easter such as bunny’s and at Christmas chocolate Santa’s that are so cute to look at.
They cater for international tourists and have plenty of bus loads visiting on a regular basis. This really is on the map for must do activities while in Melbourne. (Particularly you love chocolate!)
The outlook of the shop and restaurant is magnificent with pretty views. The lovely green rolling hills on a sunny day adds to the happy feeling you get when you go there.

If you are interested in how their chocolates are made you can see the clever chocolatiers in action through a massive glass window. They also have classes for kids – great idea for a school holiday activity.
Yes you can sample the yummy chocolate
As you enter Yarra Valley Chocolaterie there are three massive bowls with little chocolate chips of white, milk and dark chocolate chips. You are welcome to take a teaspoon to have a taste of the chocolate – you must do this before you eat anything there as when you come out you wont feel like it!
We have had many hot chocolates which are just so chocolaty and sweet and indulgent. Served with a little cup of melted chocolate. Delicious! yum. yum. yum. Sugar overload! They have lovely sweet treats in their cafe area that are nice to share with a hot chocolate.
I think this is just the best place to drop in and have a look around. Whether you are from Melbourne or an international visitor you will love this place. You must go with and empty tummy and plan on eating in their cafe and buying chocolate to take home with you! This place is always busy whether you go during the week or weekend so make sure you pack your patience with you – its well worth it!
Yarra Valley Chocolaterie is located at 35 Old Healesville Road, (cnr Melba Highway), Yarra Glen Victoria and is open open every day 9am-5pm (except Christmas Day)
