Bairnsdale, East Gippsland – 3rd Trip for the Jayco Jpod

New Transmission and Brake Controllers for the Jeep

Not long after returning from our last trip to Beachport, we had problems with the Jeep’s transmission and at the same time our brake controller had a recall. The Jeep had trouble changing gears.  The engine warning light kept coming on in between visits to Jeep to diagnose the problem. In the end they replaced the transmission for no cost to us ( even though we were out of warranty, the Jeep had not done that many km’s to have this sort of problem.) Catch was we had to wait for Jeep to get the part and then install it. By the time the Jeep was ready for action again and we could book into a caravan park it was well and truly after Easter.

Easter Monday – Jeep and Jpod ready to go

Hooking up the Jpod the night before meant that it was a quick and easy take off  for our trip to East Gippsland. I took the dogs for a walk around the block and then got them in the car. Not far down the road I noticed something  flapping on side of caravan, we stopped and fixed the cap and kept on driving. Dave drove the first half of the journey and we swapped after lunch in Traralgon. Dave really wanted to have lunch at the Yarragon Bakery however being a public holiday nearly everything was shut for the day. So McDonalds was where we had lunch.

Set up Jpod, Walks, and dinner on the Weber

With a little bit of help (not requested but politely accepted) getting the Jpod into position from the experienced neighbour to our campsite, we set up camp. It wasn’t too long before we had set up the tent at the back for the dogs, dog crate, mats, chairs, weber Q and awning.

We cooked dinner in the weber Q in the dark and had a delicious Rib Eye steak, chips and salad.

A walk with the dogs in the dark along Mitchell River

Our  caravan park is right next to the Mitchell River walking track and very convenient to take the dogs for lots of walks. After dinner we got the head lamps and torches out and took the dogs for their last walk for the day.

Taking the dogs for lots of walks wears them out and makes them more manageable on holidays. We were stuffed too! = Early night.
